Happy Anniversary to my lovely bride.

Exactly two years ago today I got to marry the most beautiful woman ever known to grace this earth. These two years have been nothing short of amazing and I could not be more blessed to have Bekah as my wife.

She has continually amazed me these past few years and I'm so proud of all the things done. She has moved cross country (twice!), been hired by two different school districts, started a full time master's program (which she's almost done with), and had a major back surgery, just to name a few of the awesome things she's done (besides marrying me of course :-)).

I can't wait to see what God has in store for the rest of our marriage and I thank him everyday for the gift that Bekah is to me. I love you babe!

Latest update on Bekah...

So for those of you keeping score at home, Bekah (and I) have been home for exactly one week and she is doing great. She is still pretty sore, but each day she makes improvements and gets a little stronger.

This past Thursday we went and had a two week follow-up with the surgeon and it went better than expected. He said she is actually a little ahead of schedule as far as her recovery goes and he is very pleased with her progress. We got to see before and after x-rays as well and the surgery corrected exactly what it needed to so everything in her back is now aligned as it should be.

Now it's just a waiting game as her back continues to heal and her body learns to move and function as it used to. We knew the recovery would be a long process and its exciting to see her make improvements each day. Please keep praying for Bekah and her healing/recovery as well as for her to not get too frustrated with the recovery process. It can be tough having to be patient to let the body heal when only a few weeks ago she was able to do almost anything. We are continuing to trust God that as she heals, her pain will continue to go subside and eventually she will have significantly less pain than she did prior to surgery. We are also praying for increased movement and mobility as a result of the surgery and that her overall quality of life will improve as well.

We want to give a huge thanks to everyone who came to visit Bekah while she was in the hospital. My apologies if I missed anyone: the Castle's, the Bush's, Aaron Chivington, Christian Booth, Alyssa Rittenhouse, Cherie Bell, Jill Mackinder, Alicia Richwine, and David Loyd. And thanks to everything who sent cards/flowers/gifts as well.

Also, an enormous thanks to Bekah's mom Darlene for coming out for the surgery, and to Bekah's best friend Shauna for coming out the weekend we got home. You were both a huge blessing to both of us.

Bekah Update

Hey all,

First we want to thank everyone for your thoughts and prayers. We really appreciate all of the support from everyone.

Here's a quick update on where Bekah is at. The surgery went just as planned and the incision is healing really well. We've moved the rehab unit at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton to help speed up her recovery.  We still don't know for sure when she'll be home but Bekah is making great progress so we are hoping by the end of the week.

Two things you guys could do for us. First, keep praying for Bekah's recovery; that the pain continues to subside and she regains her strength quickly. Second, give Bekah a call, send her an email, mail her a letter, leave a Facebook message, etc. just to encourage her. If you're in the area, she would love visitors as well. If you want her number or address, let me know.

Thanks again for all of your help and prayers.

Bekah Surgery and Testimony

So for those of you who may not have heard, Bekah had back surgery today to install some hardware in an attempt to fix some problems she has had for awhile. The surgery went well and the surgeon said everything went as planned with no issues. She took a little bit longer than expected to come out of the anesthesia and had quite a bit of pain but she's doing good now and sleeping pretty well. Now we just have to work on the recovery and rehab phase.

I also wanted to share a really cool, quick testimony from this. So I had wanted to pray over Bekah, the surgeon, anesthesiologist, and the rest of the team in pre-op before the surgery. Turns out at the hospital I can't go back with pre-op so I couldn't go and pray for them. I was a little bummed but thankfully prayer works from anywhere so I prayed by myself in the waiting room. Turns out the anesthesiologist is a Christian and asked Bekah if he could  pray for her and the surgical team before they went into surgery. Talk about Psalm 37:4 coming to life. I had wanted Bekah and the team to be prayed over before the surgery and God gave me just that, just in a different way than I envisioned. How cool is that?!

Childhood Memories

Another great Christmas song.  I remember watching this with my parents every year as a kid.  I can't wait to watch it with my future kids someday.  Enjoy.

Christmas Song of the Day

Another great song about the birth of Jesus.  It isn't one of the christmas "classics," but still great nonetheless.
